Refugee Applications

The Refugee Protection Division is a tribunal branch of the Immigration and Refugee Board that hears and decides matters involving individuals claiming to be falling under the protected person status.

The Refugee Appeal Division is a tribunal branch of the Immigration and Refugee Board that hears and decides matters involving refused refugee claims at the Refugee Protection Division.

Once a person claiming to be a Protected Person has been considered as one by the deciding tribunal, such individual may apply for permanent residence together with his/her family members.
