Intra-Company Transferees is designed to allow international companies to temporarily transfer qualified foreign employees in Canada. The Intra-Company Transferees Program is devised mainly for multinational companies with a parent company, branch, subsidiary or affiliate in Canada for the purpose of expanding Canadian exports, enhancing management effectiveness and improving competitiveness in overseas markets.
All entries of intra-company transferees are regulated by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations and sanctioned by the International Mobility Program and recognize provisions contained in international trade agreements for nationals of signatory countries.
Some important key points that one must know under this program is that all temporarily intra-company transferees are exempted from the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) but they still require to secure work permits. The exemption from the LMIA requirement is due to the beneficial impacts they provide to the economy of Canada as well as to its people.
